FN Teamwear Cup: 48 Clubs Chasing Silverware

A step-up in training – when restrictions allow – followed by 11-a-side action as soon as possible….Ideal ingredients as 48 Clubs ponder over the way of preparing to enter the Saughton Sounders-organised Summer Tournament sponsored by FN Teamwear, writes Tom Scott.

There are some big names on the starting blocks ready to blow away months of inactivity frustration.

Coatbridge Rovers FC are looking at the possibility of starting an Over-35s Section.

South Gyle Rovers FC are looking to add to their backroom staff with Coaches, and the LEAFA Sunday Morning will be adding players to their squad for season 2021-2022.

Maybury Star AFC LEAFA Sunday Morning League will be playing in the Saughton Sounders FC Tournament.

Gregor Kerr has been appointed Assistant Manager at Fife Sunday League outfit Buckhaven United AFC.

Greenock HSFP AFC are returning to Non-Contact Training on April 13.

Arthurlie, new to the Scottish Amateur Football League, hope to be back by April 20.

The Aberdeenshire AFA 2021-2022 season is expected to start on August 5-6.

South Gyle Rovers AFC are looking to add to their backroom staff with coaches.

The LEAFA Sunday Morning team will also be seeking to bring players into their squad for season 2021-2022.

I understand a training session will take place at Gyle Park today (Sunday) at noon.

Maybury Star AFC LEAFA Sunday Morning League are looking forward to playing in the Saughton Sounders FC Tournament, which they have entered.

Buckhaven United AFC – Fife Sunday League – have appointed Gregor Kerr as Assistant Manager.

Greenock HSFP AFC will resume training on April 13.

St Joseph’s AFC start their Non-Contact sessions next Saturday.

Dean Thistle (Kilmarnock) have helped their local community over the past year with several projects – including delivering in excess of 5000 food parcels, shopping for anyone isolating and helping people with doctor appointments. New friends and partnerships have been developed along the way. Great work!

M2C United, an Edinburgh- based Club, are hosting a 24 hour Live Stream Gaming Marathon on April 10. Scott Judge and Mark Phillips will be participating according to my Club Contact.

Troon Dundonald AFC have been running a fund raiser. Prizes are signed framed shirts from Rangers boss Steven Gerrard and striker Alfredo Morelos.

Aberdeenshire AFA 2021-2022 season is expected to start on August 5-6. Friendlies can commence May 17 provided Covid Protocols are observed. I hear the 2020-2021 campaign has apparently been scrapped.

Around The Amateur Football Scene (28/11/2020)

Tom Scott has a start of the weekend look at news from some clubs.

Two games we hope to feature later today: Colony Park v Blackburn AFC, Rothersay v Rhu Amateur Football Club, which was due to kick-off 1 hour after the Colony fixture at 2pm.

Tranent AFC will play Wallyford Bluebell FC in a Friendly on Sunday (2pm), followed by Musselburgh United on Sunday, December 6 (10.30am).

Tranent are one of nine new clubs in the 11-team LEAFA Sunday Morning set-up next season.

The others are Bingham Athletic, East Calder AFC, Ferniebahce AFC, Livingston Community AFC, Maybury Star, Newcraighall Leith Vics, South Gyle Rovers and Tamsons Bar, The two more familiar clubs are Broughton Albion and Saughton Sounders SM AFC.

Spark of Genius Central Scottish AFL have yet to put a time scale on actively looking for new clubs in season 2021-2022.

Any interested parties should initially make contact with Secretary Mr George Dingwall.

Bonnyrigg Rose Amateurs winger Chris Robertson has agreed on a move to Dunbar United for the remainder of this season.

Isle of Arran AFC have managed to secure individual sponsors for all of their players. They have warmly welcomed the generosity from everyone involved at such a difficult time for the country.

Newmains Hammers are taking donations for their support of a local Food Bank and their deadline is December 4.

Stewarton United have another stage in their “Last Man Standing” competition today.

Netherton AFC have a LMS. It is £10 a go – and half the prize goes to the winner.

A “Last Man Standing” featuring English Premiership clubs is being organised by Cumnock Amateurs on December 12. Entry is £5. The Jackpot is 50% of all entries.

Aberdeenshire AFA members, Ellon Thistle will play Middlefield Wasps in a Friendly today. (1.30pm).

Continental AFC have an away Friendly at Grammar FP’s on Sunday.

Wishaw HSFP are working behind the scenes to strengthen their squad for the return to competitive football, and have confirmed the signing of Zack Caldwell, formerly of Livingston and Hibernian.
