New Season Structure Confirmed By GCFA

The long-running Glasgow College F.A. will run with a Premier, Division One A and Division One B structure from October 31 – providing further Scottish Government restrictions are not implemented.

Having organised competitive football for over 60 years, the set-up is still thriving with a list of of well-known clubs including Cambuslang Football Academy, Locomotiiv Glasgow, Royal Union and Tantallon Victoria.

There are some excellent opening-day fixtures in prospect and I am highlighting a few to look-out for at the end of the month.

Premier Division: Hampden AFC v Locomotiv Glasgow, Rossvale Kelvinbridge v Erskine AFC and Royal Union v Clydeside.

Division One A: River Nevis v Kings Park, Burnhill v Southside Whitecart and Croftpark v Greater Glasgow.

Division One B: Glasgow Ansar v Glasgow East, Springburn Thistle v AFC Sporto and Tantallon Victoria v Rosehill Thorns.

Newlands Complete Pre-Season Programme

Four wins and one draw that has been the positive return generated by Newlands AFC ahead of the new season.

Friday’s victory against Rossvale Over-35s followed excellent performances against Glasgow East,. North Glasgow Victory, Southside United and Southside White Cart, while six goals were shared with Southpark AFC.

In common with many other amateur clubs, Newlands formed in 2012, had to contend with too few park  lets and not being allowed to travel outside their local area in the pursuit of warm-up games.
