FC Southside Announce New Management

Assistant Manager Brian Dornan is confident he and ex-senior football player Kenny MacKay will build a squad capable of winning trophies at FC Southside United, writes Tom Scott.

The pair are in charge at the GDSFC League club following the departure of Derek Johnston, who has landed a coaching role at Stenhousemuir Ladies FC.

Dornan, no stranger to amateur football, and MacKay, who played with Annan Athletic and Queens Park, have already had four sessions and one friendly with their new charges.

Brian, who also scouts for Motherwell FC, told me: “Everybody has their own coaching style.”

“I think we have something special here, and personally I have not been this exciting about football for about 14-15 years.”

“We’ve had some really good sessions based on a professional set-up approach, and we want to be ambitions in the Sunday League. It’s a building process.”

Ex-Annan signing MacKay has good contacts in football and could well bring another coach to the backroom staff.

Brian added “There are a few things in the pipeline. Quality players will come in, and probably ones already here might decide to leave.”

“We have arranged a friendly game on Sunday against E.K. United at Strathclyde Park.”
