St Joseph’s AFC Manager Adjie MacColl has revealed their playing squad are being given a fortnight off to recover from injuries sustained in Group 2 of the William Turner Challenge Cup, writes Tom Scott.
Scott Cameron, who left the club to sign for Petershill but is back in the fold following work commitments, scored in last week’s 1-0 victory against Rhu.
Dumbarton Academy FP AFC emerged from a highly-competitive Group which also included former Premier Division champions Thorn Athletic, and Rhu Amateur, who celebrate a very special birthday next season.
Said Adjie: “When we first looked at the Group everyone thought this will be a huge test for us because as a new Club we only managed one game in the League last year before everything was halted by the pandemic.”
“Yes, we had a terrible run of injuries from the Cup fixtures, but it’s fair to say we more than held our own against those top teams.”
“Only one defeat and a draw – both against Dumbarton Academy FP AFC – and they deserved to go through to the knock-out stages.”
“I think we can be positive about next season.”
Signing Forms for the 2021-2022 season are now available, and St Joseph’s will be having their squad in next Wednesday as they build a squad for the new campaign with the majority expected to come from the Clydebank- Duntocher areas.
St Joe’s would like to hear from Clubs who can play them in friendlies on any of the following dates: JULY 17th (Away), JULY 24th (Home), and JULY 31st (Away).
The St Joseph’s Manager also revealed: “We have a park booked at Scotstoun for the home game on July 24th. Kick-off 2pm.”
“The first date would be away from home, and if restrictions still remain in place, perhaps a Club outside Glasgow would care to play us for the other away game on July 31st.”
“I have been told next season will start on August 7th.”
Interested Clubs should contact St Joseph’s AFC via their Social Media Pages.
