Tynecastle AFC: How They Were Founded?

Chief Tom Scott launches his new Amateur Football Feature with Tynecastle AFC from the East End of Glasgow.

Tynecastle were founded by Bobby Bell and Bob Anderson in June, 1978. They joined the SSMAFL formerly known as the Strathclyde Civil Service League one year later.

Apart from one season, 1993-1994, they have been proud members for the duration.

A mighty impressive list of winning trophies – including championships and cups – has followed them over the years.

On Saturday, 7th May, 2016, striker and star man Jamie Cochrane inspired Tynecastle to a 2-2 Strathclyde Cup win against Shawbridge AFC at Benburb’s very impressive New Tinto Park.

The scoreline was a repeat of their 2006 encounter, but more importantly that evening clash was the first- ever Saturday night final staged by the Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur Football League officials.
