The Big Interview: Vale of Leven AFC – Greater Glasgow Premier AFL.

Heading down to Alexandria today and have obtained the inside story on the Club from Manager/ Secretary Mr Chris Anderson, writes Tom Scott.

WHEN WAS THE CLUB FORMED?

“We have just become Vale of Leven. We were previously FC Argyle , and they formed in 2007.”

WHO IS INVOLVED BEHIND THE SCENES?

“Myself Manager/Secretary. I have 2 Coaches , Willie and Michael , who help along with Training and Match Days, and Paul, who is the Match Secretary.”

WHAT LEAGUE DO YOU PLAY IN?

“We joined the Greater Glasgow AFL from SAFL for a fresh start as Vale of Leven.”

ANY HONOURS WON?

“We haven’t played any games as the Vale yet, but we won a League title in the Paisley and District AFL, and won the Hall Cup a few years back in SAFL.”

HOW HAVE YOU COPED WITH THE PANDEMIC?

“The pandemic has been tough for everyone. We all just want to get back playing football.”

WHAT HAVE BEEN YOUR BEST MEMORIES AT THE VALE?

“We haven’t had a chance to make any memories as Vale of Leven yet, but we have plenty from when we were FC Argyle. Like winning a League title, and winning the Hall Cup.”

WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS AND OBJECTIVES MOVING FORWARD?

“Moving forward, just having the chance to play football regularly without any restrictions will be the next step, and after that hopefully we can be competitive in our new League.”
