Rovers Earn Praise Over Reaction To Club Initiative

It’s a safe bet Coatbridge Rovers FC will be asked to participate again in any local Toy Appeal later this year – following their outstanding Pre-Christmas (2020) venture, writes Tom Scott.

Club and Coach Development Officer Martin O’Neill has provided SAFN with the inside story.

He said “We launched a toy appeal and were inundated with donations. We were able to donate hundreds of baby toys to the Lanarkshire Baby Bank, and sorted and delivered sacks of toys to over 20 families, or around 100 children.”

“On Christmas Eve, we were gifted the hire of a van by RBR Van Rental , and delivered both the toys as well as hot meals, donated by Ali at 11 Spices in Coatbridge, to a further 30 families, who were referred to us by friends, neighbours, or the local authority.”

I have to say, given the timing of their efforts, efficiency and effectiveness, the good people involved at Coatbridge Rovers FC deserve every ounce of praise.
