Tayport F.C. Amateurs Player-Manager Ryan Anderson reckons the re-emergence of football in the Town could not have come at a better time – even in the current climate of Non-Contact Training, writes Tom Scott.
As I revealed yesterday, from the start of the 2021-2022 season Tayport FC Amateurs will be competing in the RJM Sports Kingdom of Fife AFA Division 1. They will play and train at East Common, Tayport, and function in the same colours as the Junior team.
The Amateurs will be part of the First Team Club structure – meaning there will be opportunities for players to progress if they impress in the Kingdom of Fife set-up.
Former English Semi Professional footballer, Ryan Anderson played with West Allotment Celtic FC and Barnoldswick Town FC, and Is excited about the project.
Anderson knows the Kingdom of Fife AFA very well as he is currently involved with Newburgh Amateurs, where he was keen to develop a similar set-up, which will commence under the Tayport banner early July.
In another Scottish Amateur Football News Exclusive Ryan said: “I was looking to try and link-up with the Junior Club which would give guys who want to play semi-professional that pathway, but Newburgh couldn’t provide that, so we’re just sharing facilities with no formal link.”
“However, Newburgh helped us get established, and now we will continue meantime playing under their name in the Jon Harrison Memorial Competition, which is hopefully going ahead May-June.”
“All we can do at the moment is Non-Contact Social Distancing Training.”
“We have also set-up a Tayport FC Amateurs Facebook Page.”
“I moved to Tayport three years ago and approached them with the same idea of a link to their First Team and they were all for it. The committee have been smashing – massively helpful.”
“Some of the players from Newburgh are also joining me at Tayport. That gives us a good foundation, but player trials will begin on Saturday, 3rd July (1pm) on East Commons in Tayport.”
“I am also looking to recruit Individuals to get involved with the Club as Committee Members.”
“I have held off putting together a Coaching Staff until official news was made public about the link- up with Tayport Football Club, so that is another area I will be looking at, too.”
“You have mentioned we will be playing in the First Team strip/ colours, but we are also looking for kit, jacket and Individual player sponsors’ moving forward.”
“If you would like to find out more about Tayport FC Amateurs, or would like to get involved, call Ryan Anderson on 07767043683.”
Ryan added: “After having many successful Amateur teams in years gone by, everyone associated with the Club is delighted they will once again have an Amateur team in Tayport.”
