Giffnock Soccer Centre have continued their excellent pathway in recent years with the introduction of an Over-35s team, writes Tom Scott.
GSC operate an Academy of Boys, Girls, Women’s and Amateur teams (over 1200 players and 200 coaches) The Over-35s squad will now be participating in the Central Scottish AFL Section, and Player-Manager Kenny Wilson revealed they’re already been participating in various activities, including a Christmas Challenge, which raised over £400 for various Charities, and also numerous “virtual” training sessions.
“For the Christmas Challenge, each player was encouraged to nominate a distance to run/cycle or even swim over the month with a donation to Charity” he said.
“After Christmas, the 35s have been keeping in trim with various Zoom Sessions, and also working on their own doing endurance Sessions.”
“With the latest update we are glad to get the East Renfrewshire players back for social distanced training, but can’t wait to get everyone back, and a return to matches.”
Kenny, who has kindly supplied various photographs to run alongside my Article, also wishes to thank Bill’s Tool Store for a generous sponsorship deal linked to their playing kit.
