Manager Sean Kenney has revealed he had no trouble dealing with limited numbers and non-contact Kilbride Thistle AFC training earlier this week – just like every other Scottish Amateur Football Club he felt the buzz was back again, writes Tom Scott.
The Ayrshire AFL Premier Division team deployed Kilwinning Academy for what Sean admitted was “a huge boost.”
He said: “Just getting to see the guys again was massive on Tuesday.
“Obviously we were limited in numbers, but what a boost that buzz was for everyone. It wasn’t training for pre-season or for games. We worked on technique with fitness incorporated into working with the ball, which in normal times is how I like to operate.”
“Tuesday evening for us was massive and an indication just now important football is trying to deal with Mental Health issues, which we know has hit a lot of people over the past year.”
Kilbride Thistle have covered everything in terms of protocols and different Government regulations to such an extent that by the end of this week teams under their banner – including the new Under-20 Development Squad – will have made a welcome return to the training ground.
