Talk of the Toon Plan March Broadcast

The superb Thorn Athletic – Talk of the Toon team will be recording their March edition in the forthcoming days, writes Tom Scott.

Joining them will be the Management team of the Thorn Athletic new 35s Squad. Indications are you will be able to view their thoughts on the YouTube Channel next Wednesday (3rd March). Not to be missed!

Last Sunday, Thorn Athletic Club Chairperson Mark McGee revealed their new Over-35s team will see some familiar faces pull on the jersey once again.

The Johnstone side will have a team in the Central Region 35s League after members of an original Linwood Rangers team came across to join them.

Launching an over age team has been something ‘The Thorn’ had looked at in recent years with a high demand from former players, but the right opportunity hadn’t arisen – until now!

The team will be overseen by Garry Kerr, Iain McCallum, Brian Roberts and John McNab, and they already have an existing pool of players ready to go when football gets the green light.

It is hoped that a smooth transition will take place, and the team will continue to be sponsored by The Clippens Inn Pub in Linwood.

Speaking exclusively to Scottish Amateur Football News Mark McGee said: “We’ve had a fantastic response since announcing the new team.”

“Former players have been getting in touch and hopefully they’ll be able to compliment the group of players already there.”

“The Over 35s scene was really on the up before the global pandemic struck and we are sure it’ll go from strength to strength when it returns.”

Although they have one existing sponsor, the team are keen to have new businesses involved and anyone interested should email sponsorship@thornathletic.com
