On Saturday I featured Dumbarton Academy FP AFC coming from a goal down to defeat Larkhall 2-1 in the 2016 Douglas Smith League Cup Final at Broadwood, Cumbernauld, writes Tom Scott.
Unfortunately, at the time of submitting the SAFN Article, no photographs were available from any source.
However, our good friend and follower of Scottish Amateur Football News, Mr Robert Porter, has been in contact with a lovely message.
He said: “Tom, One of my ex- Accies colleagues saw your Tweet regarding the final and sent some pics to me. Unsure if you can add retrospectively.”
“These reports to down well within my club. Regards, Robert.”
Well, Robert, I am using them, and with a brief re-cap on what happened.
Accies trailed to a 5th minute goal on the big Friday evening (February) clash.
Central midfielder Alan Filshie equalised following a corner kick.
Extra-Time was looming until hero Andrew McDonald struck with 13 minutes remaining.
Manager Jim George guided his team to wins against Milngavie Wanderers, Rannoch, Doune Castle, Glasgow Harp, and Semi-Finalists Gartcosh United (6-5 on penalties) to leave them 90 minutes away from glory.
CUP FINAL PHOTO GALLERY: Thanks again Mr Robert Porter.
