First-Season Buckhaven United FC have confirmed an attractive summer pre-season friendly on the Isle of Man – subject to current Government restrictions being lifted and football reinstated, writes Tom Scott.
I can reveal Castletown Metropolitan FC are rated the top club on the Island and play out of Malew Road. Founded in 1904, eight Championships and six Manx FA Cup wins are on their CV.
United Manager James Campbell said: “The Isle of Man opening came about from a crazy idea of doing a trip for a game of football, and bringing the lads together as a team-bonding exercise. After looking around and speaking to a few clubs far and wide, Castletown Metropolitan FC from the Isle of Man got back in touch and said it would be something they would be keen to happen. After several chats with them we agreed that after Covid we will go ahead with the game. This is something the lads are really looking forward to. We hope this can be a success and build up a footballing relationship with Castletown FC, and become a yearly thing.”
“They are an established club and it will be a tough game, but one the lads will be relishing and ready to step up to the test.”
