If Scottish Amateur Football Archives keep records on the duration businesses or companies spend supporting their local clubs via sponsorship, it is a safe bet Bannockburn AFC and Tartan Arms would feature prominently, Writes Tom Scott.
Based in the Main Street, the family-run establishment, well known for excellent food, drink and great banter, are right behind trophy- winning Bannockburn, who celebrated half a century of Amateur Football in 2019.
Club Secretary James Todd revealed: “Tartan Arms have sponsored us from day one!”
“I can tell you one of the club’s Founders, Mr John McQue, was a late owner of the establishment, and sadly passed away after we beat Oban Saints in the Alona Hotel West of Scotland Amateur Cup at Hamilton in May, 2019.”

“One of the photographs I have given you shows our squad prior to the West Final wearing their new Club Ties outside the Tartan Arms.”

Bannockburn won a rip-roaring cup-tie 6-3 after extra-time, and skipper Harry Bruce emulated his father, Harry Senior, by holding aloft the trophy as captain of the Central Scottish AFL Premier club.
