Buchanan Thistle AFC were striding towards the Greater Glasgow Premier Division 3 Championship, writes Tom Scott.
John Deans and Des McGinness founded the team in 1999, and their Home Ground was at St Aloysius Sports Ground, Millerston.
Ex-senior footballer Eamonn Lynch was Manager, and in their first season Thistle narrowly missed out on promotion – finishing third!
By April (2001), they were atop of Division 3 holding a two-point advantage over Robslee, who had played two games more (17), as the leaders put together an impressive run of one defeat and one draw over 15 outings.
Buchanan Thistle AFC also reached the Knock-Out stages of the League Cup at the expense of Section 1 rivals Glynhill, St Thomas, Orchard Park Mount and Kings Park.
