Headline Makers Revisited – Strathkelvin Thistle AFC (May 2006)

Scottish Amateur Footballl News Writer Tom Scott dipped into his Series Files, and turned the spotlight on the 2005-2006

Coronation Cup Final between Strathkelvin Thistle AFC and pre-match favourites Dumbarton St Pats FP.

The Sons of the Rock had already been crowned Division One champions, but holders Thistle were in no mood to release their grip on the silverware, when the game took place on a Tuesday evening at Cambuslang Rangers’ Somervell Park.

In fact, Kelvie almost got off to a dream start within a minute, when Marshall pounced on a long ball, danced past a challenge and rattled his shot against the crossbar!

That stung Dumbarton into action and they duly broke the deadlock on 12 minutes. Graham went past Barbour and shot beyond ‘ Keeper Robertson.
