Headline Makers Revisited – Templeton Albert AFC (2005-2006)

Templeton Albert celebrated a successful season with a top-class Player of the Year presentation, writes Tom Scott. Stephen McDevitt landed a memorable double by winning the Club Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards.

Operating in a key midfield role, McDevitt, who would soon be leaving for pastures new, enjoyed an outstanding season at Albert.

Striker Eddie Dearie finished Top Goalscorer.

Club spokesman Gordon Neil said:. “We had a real family atmosphere going even before our Management team of Jim Anderson, Billy Carmichael and Willie Malone presented awards on the night.

“The squad won the Second Division Championship in some style, and we also had good runs in both the Scottish Amateur Cup and West of Scotland Amateur Cup.”

“New players have been tried out to replace the likes of McDevitt, Mulligan and Gallagher, who have signed for other club.”
