Sheddocksley FC have got themselves back on track after a shattering debut in the Aberdeen Sunday Amateur Football League. Who can blame ambitious Manager Ewan MacPherson from being left shell-shocked by a 9-0 home defeat against Granite City on 22nd November?
Some serious talking and work must have taken place during the following week resulting in a 2-1 reversal at top-three hosts Bon Accord Amateurs – quite a turn-around!
Boss MacPherson has never hidden the reason behind the new Sheddocksley as they attempt to honour the memory of a true local football legend.
Ewan has a strong emotional feeling behind the re-emergence of the name.
He revealed “The club was formed due to the sad passing of the old Sheddocksley’s Chairman, Mr Andy Paterson, AKA Andy P, who was the most respectful man I have ever met. He was liked by all, and always gave his all to come to training and be the best Chairman he could possibly be. While I was at his Funeral last year, I thought to myself I had to get his team re- formed as they were disbanded two years ago.”
“Everything we will be doing will be for him , and the guys who play under me to mark his wonderful life.”
As part of my Exclusive, Ewan McPherson was kind enough to give me a rundown on the dedicated people working behind the scenes.
The backroom staff features:
Club Chairman – Doug MacPherson.
Vice Chairman – Scott Hill.
Manager – Ewan MacPherson.
Fitness Coach – Connor Low.
Ewan added “I have recruited guys that I have played with since I was the age of 5 (15 years ago),who played for Sheddocksley Boys Club as well as people I have met along the way and have got on well with.
I know they will give me everything they have to get better and help the team.
“We will be training on a Wednesday at potentially Hazelhead Academy Astro Turf (Fingers Crossed), and will be using the Track Field for our Pre-Season, and hopefully work closely with them as they helped us out, too – waiting on confirmation to use the venue.
“For home games, we will play at is Sheddocksley Playing Fields.”
“The club have also managed to secure vital team sponsorship. It is a Barber Shop I work at called: Applause Barbers located on 31 Glenbervie Road. Torry, which is a Football Themed Sports Barber Shop.”
