Around The Amateur Football Scene (17/11/2020)

Next Third Lanark AFC “Gaffers Mental Health Challenge” is due to be displayed this week. I understand responses to those previously highlighted have been welcomed in huge numbers, and are proving a great source of help and inspiration to those experiencing Mental Health issues or Anxiety concerns. Please refer to the Third Lanark AFC Facebook page for more details.

Baillieston Thistle AFC are backing an excellent local Charity Initiative, and FC Baillieston have also intimated they will join them with added support as part of real community spirit! The Glasgow East End clubs have linked up with “Community of Helping Hands”. I hear individual collections and donations are being carried out during the remainder of this month, and throughout December.

Kings Park United are busy organising a Half Marathon next month. The route will take them through Glasgow’s Southside and the aim is to raise a considerable amount of cash for “Time To Tackle”.

Westerlands AFC are saddened to hear if the passing of Douglas Barrie. Mr Barrie was one of the founder members from 1967.

Glasgow Colleges FA are encouraging member clubs to complete a survey on the impact Covid-19 has had on sport in the community. There is a link to the survey – which takes less than 7 minutes to complete – on the College’s Twitter page. I hear the closing date for the survey is 7th December.
