Two Dennistoun Vale stars shared their Manager’s vote for the Player of the Year award back in 2016. For my latest Series feature I can reveal the presentation evening was held at St Rollox Bowling Club, Dennistoun in Glasgow’s East End.
The joint winners were Darren O’Donnell and Adam Coakley, who combined on the park to score 70 goals. O’Donnell was Top Scorer with an impressive tally of 47 goals.
Players Player of the Year went to centre-midfielder David Milne, who had a consistent season for a club that finished runners-up to Premier Division champions Blochairn Star in the Stax Trade Centres- sponsored Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur Football League.
At the time Team Official Gavin McLean said: “We would like to give a special mention and sincere thanks to our sponsors at Network Private Hire, Celinos Deli and Nicos Cafe Bar.”
“They are all greatly appreciated”
“It was a very successful 1st season for us as we lost out on the league title on the final day of season, reached the last 16 of the Scottish Cup (only beaten on penalties) In a replay, and finished up winning the Tommy Marshall Cup. “
