Villa Out To Banish Last Season’s Title Frustration

As they patiently wait with 30 other clubs in the Airdrie and Coatbridge League for a Government green light to start playing football again, Villa Park AFC can draw on extra motivational strength after being denied the opportunity to win the Championship last season through Covid-19.

The management and players had worked tirelessly to occupy joint top-spot with just five games remaining when the campaign was declared Null and Void, that announcement completed a double-whammy for Villa, who in early March had drawn 3-3 with Eastend United in the League Cup Semi-Final – they surrendered a 2-0 lead in the process – before losing out on penalty kicks.

A club insider told me “We mostly have the same team as last season with a couple of additions. With the players we have we are hopeful of doing well.”
