Cumnock Amateurs can never be accused of organising easy pre-season games – as their latest programme fully demonstrates! Ask most managers what they are looking to achieve and they will reply:. “Getting minutes into the players on the park, positive results (winning) are a welcome bonus!”
Apart from a horrific ankle injury sustained by midfielder Callum Muncie in their abandoned game against Nithsdale Wanderers (Cumnock were leading 1-0 ), the programme of friendly fixtures has gone well for the Ayrshire Amateur Football League outfit.
In their first September outing , the squad went head-to-head against former Scottish Juniors Cup winners, Cumnock FC, and actually led 2-0 before tired legs took over and they went down in a five-goal cracker.
A McMaster hat-trick and Bradford strike earned ‘Nock their 4-1 success against Ochiltree while another good work-out coupled with a last-minute winner defeated Annbank United 3-2. Goals from Trialist (2) and Black.
The Cumnock Amateurs name is well respected and that becomes hugely important in attracting much appreciated sponsorship. Steven Kerr (Kerr Groundwork) has returned for the second consecutive season to sponsor the club’s Training Equipment.
