Jags Aim To  Build On First- Ever Doune Result

Callander Thistle AFC Manager David McLean admits he wants more of the same on the park once current Government restrictions are lifted.

Goals from  Alistair McPherson (2), Man of the Match Andy Orr and Alan More secured a 4-0 win over hosts Doune Castle on October 3.

Said David: “It was a great result for us in the local derby and the first time we have beaten Doune in a competitive fixture.

“I think it is the 6th attempt. To finally win was. a great feeling. We started the game brightly scoring in the first minute, but then allowed Doune too much possession and didn’t press them enough.”

“Once the second goal went in just before the hour mark, a brilliant header from Andy Orr, I felt we were comfortable and managed the game well keeping Doune at arms length.”

“We scored a well-worked 3rd goal that wee Ally finished off, before he went on to complete the score and put an extra bit of gloss on the result. The fitness and sharpness was there. Overall, I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and the 3 points.”

“Just a shame we can’t build on that just now. We just need to get on with it.”

Meanwhile, David gave me positive feedback on the coverage @AmmyFitbaNews. He said: ” Keep up the great work promoting Amateur Footballl.”
