Renfrew Rovers marked their debut in Amateur football with a 3-2 friendly win against the more experienced Anchor Sociedad at Beith Astro. The Sunday morning clash proved to be a terrific advert for the GDSFC set-up, and taking into account the number of false starts all clubs have endured throughout Covid-19, both sets of players will be delighted over participation levels on a park again.
Rovers missed a penalty kick, hit the woodwork and were denied by an excellent goalkeeper, while Anchor were always a threat in forward areas.
Scorers for Renfrew were Gary McMillan, Aiden Thornburn and David Christie.
