News Writer Tom Scott has been given great assistance by Vale Of Clyde F.C. First Team manager Mark Mackay, who helped set-up superb interviews with their new Saturday and Sunday squads. Here Tom catches up with Gary Dunnery from the Sunday team, who have joined the famous Tollcross structure.
Gary, you were very successful previously at The Rose AFC. Can you tell me who the coaches are now?
“While at the Rose, my right hand man was David Kidd and he has also joined me at Vale of Clyde. David is involved at Motherwell in the academy set up.”
“I played amateur football for East Kilbride YC, before moving to Claremont and then Monklands I have managed for 7 years now, with spells at Bellshill, Rossvale, The Rose AFC and now Vale of Clyde.”
“Player wise, most have returned with some new additions coming in from the Vale of Clyde set-up. We have not found a problem in recruiting players as we believe we have a fantastic set up for Sunday Amateur Football.”
What league will you be playing in when the new season starts?
“We will be playing in the Football Central Sunday AFL. Formerly known as Sunday Central AFL”
How have you handled joining such a famous name and club tradition called Vale of Clyde F.C.?
“The transition has been excellent in joining up. Mark (Mackay) has been superb in helping me with training sessions, and also off the park with strips, and training equipment”
“When we can play at Fullarton Park it will be fantastic for the boys especially those who do not get to or haven’t played at a good old junior ground in their amateur careers.”
“We look forward to what the season holds and building on the foundations we have all placed down in recent months.”
Thank you, Gary Dunnery
